waldorf mayday

Good morning, Lords and Ladies, it is the first of May, we hope you’ll like our singing, it is so sweet we say. The cuckoo sings in April, the cuckoo sings in May, the cuckoo sings in June, in July she flies away. The cuckoo drinks cold water to make her song so clear, and then she sings “cuckoo, cuckoo,” for three months of the year.

“Here’s a branch of snowy may/ A branch the fairies gave to me/ Who would like to dance today/ With the branch the fairies gave me?/ Dance away, dance away/ Holding high the branch of may/ Dance away, dance away? Holding high the branch of May.”

Our family loves May Day. One of these days we might actually get a May Pole. Until then we make simple flower crowns and take baskets to the neighbors. Love the Maypole picture and poems. Thanks for sharing.
