It was really hard for my 5th grade to finish their socks by winter break. Last year only one child was behind because of illness, this year almost every child was behind and needed help to finish. very disappointing. !
So the questions is, is it their class temperament? choleric melancholic should be good workers
Year of the Dragon and snake should have no problem. I don't understand
But in the end, they all finished. Now it is time to switch with the other half of 5th grade. that group is the beginning knitters. they will make hats and recorder cases.
I like the report of the project being completed. my 6th class (knitting socks) is half the way but we have 6 more months (out of 10). two girls are quite close to knitted socks.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering a lot about the temperaments and handwork lately, too.
I wish you a good start with the beginners. have a sunny day

I still don't know how you get them all to finish socks in half a year! We changed to mittens. We have two, forty minute classes each week and it is difficult for some of the children to finish. Thankfully, all 10 finished with the last one finishing yesterday during dismissal! Can you please post your pattern? Thank you
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI am the handwork teacher for grades 1-5 at the Detroit Waldorf School. Only one of my fith graders finished his socks before the holiday break. So I say well done class to your students.
Sincerely,

My brother suggested I might like this web site. He was entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not imagine simply how much time I had spent for this information! Thanks!

I am in the Handwork training program at RSC and 5th socks is typically an all year project from what I was taught in my training and also in my experience. When I was teaching only one student finished by break.
